Texas CHL Reciprocity Agreements

A reciprocity agreement is an official agreement between states which allow those individuals licensed as a concealed carry in one state to carry concealed in another, while enjoying the same or similar privileges their licenses give them at home.

As of March 2008 there were 28 states in which Texas shares reciprocity agreements with.  These are:

*Alabama
*Alaska
*Arkansas
*Arizona
*Colorado
*Delaware
*Florida
*Georgia
*Idaho
*Indiana
*Kansas
*Kentucky
*Louisiana
*Michigan
*Mississippi
*Missouri
*Montana
*New Mexico
*North Carolina
*North Dakota
*Oklahoma
*Pennsylvania
*South Carolina
*South Dakota
*Tennessee
*Utah
*Virginia
*Wyoming

In addition, there were 12 states which have a unilateral reciprocity agreement with Texas, whereby they may carry in the state of Texas but Texas CHL holders may NOT carry in the following 12 states:

*California
*Connecticut
*Hawaii
*Iowa
*Maryland
*Massachusetts
*Nebraska
*Nevada
*New Jersey
*New York
*Rhode Island
*Washington

Texans should remember that laws vary from state to state, and before traveling, license holders should educate themselves about current laws in other states that govern where and when they can legally carry their concealed handguns.
